We started using Google Wave as a way to collaborate on topic ideas and outlines for episodes, which is another way of saying that we’re thinking of making outlines for new episodes… we’ll see if it happens… or if we can follower them. Below are the new topics that we’ve come up with for upcoming podcasts:

This is the philosophy that there are only limited resources in the world so that every bit of gain for one person represents an equal amount of loss for other people. This might be true to some extent when it comes to material resources, if material resources weren’t constantly destroyed in the production of other resources which may have greater or lesser value. But it should be obvious when it comes to information resources that giving something away doesn’t necessarily mean that you don’t have it anymore. And the gains due to good will and public opinion may be vastly greater than the potential profit lost. And even the potential profit is only potential.

We are opensourcefaith.net. opensourcefaith.com and opensourcefaith.org are in use, but I’m not sure why. But there is really no money behind this website, so acquiring them isn’t really an option. But, there it is, the domain is up and we’re still posting. I plan to go to Texas in a couple of weeks, and hopefully Liz and I can record 3 more podcast episodes.

The topics currently on the table are: morality; the image of God vs. the anthropomorphization of the infinite; and how can you know a follower of Jesus when you see one.

The first is that this is a bit like admitting to the technique one uses to pass gas a party without anyone noticing. It’s a fun topic when you bring it up at first, but afterward everyone is going to notice when it happens. The second reason is that I want this site to be for people of any faith, and this topic is most pertinent for Christians. The reason that I feel it is worth saying openly is that I think nothing should be hidden in the community of faith, even if it could be. That’s what makes this “open source.”

I’ve always been a design person, so until I find someone that wants to code the site for me, we’ll probably stay on SquareSpace. Frankly, I don’t think it’s quite as pretty as iWeb, but I think it’s better coded with features, like comments, that are disabled in iWeb unless you are hosted on Apple’s very limited Mobile Me service.

Anyway, I’d appreciate comments on design for now, since that’s the only thing to comment on. But as soon as Liz and I can get back together to record another episode, we’ll have the real content for this website up and ready to share.
